machine learning, AI, NLP are creating a buzzword these days. although the concept of  AI was found in 1950, it has been in a picture recently. Have you ever wondered why? its because today there is zillions and a tremendous amount of data which needs to be processed, gives us a great insight about the huge data. The big giant company like Walmart, Amazon, Flipkart, Netflix, Facebook, uber, Quora has already started using this technology to a large extent. 

But before we discuss on what exactly AI is let's have a look of the history of AI......

                                                THE DARTMOUTH CONFERENCE 

In 1956, there was probably the first workshop of AI, where Researcher from Carnegie Mellon University, MIT and employee from IBM met together and founded the AI research lab. But, after subsequent years the progress slowed down. 

                                                             THE FIRST AI WINTER 

 It was during this time when British and us govt, had decided to cut exploratory research on AI.the following year was called the first AI, winter. Also, with time publicity got decreased and enthusiasm was lost, nobody wanted to fund on AI. 

                                                            THE SECOND AI WINTER 

The second AI winter came in the late 80s and 90s after series of financial setbacks.  have you heard of deep blue? On 11 may 1997 IBM's chess computer defeated Garry Kasparov after six games with 3-2 games. The computer had used the concept tree search to calculate to a maximum of 20 possible moves.

                                                

WHAT EXACTLY IS ARTIFICIAL?

We can have defined it as something that is made by human beings rather than occurring naturally.

WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE?

the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. Something which is having the ability to learn from the mistake and has the ability to act accordingly.

So, combing the both we can define it as any software which is made by human in the form of an algorithm which has the ability to acquire knowledge, pattern and data and perform the required task or make a prediction.

what is an algorithm?

it is a set of rules to be followed when solving a certain problem . in machine learning, algorithms take in data and perform the calculation to find an answer. The algorithm needs to be trained to learn how to classify and process information. The efficiency and accuracy of the algorithm are dependent on how well the algorithm was trained. using an algorithm to calculate something does not automatically means machine learning or Ai was being used.

unfortunately, today we see that machine learning and AI buzzword being thrown around to indicate that an algorithm was used to analyze data and make a prediction. using an algorithm to predict an outcome of an event is not machine learning. using the outcome of your predictions to improve prediction in a more accurate way is what we define ML and AI.

No doubt, with rapid technological advancement Ai and ML, may create a huge revolution in all the sectors be it retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, business.
